Install the drain tiles in the inside and the outside of the foundation walls , and install the gravel along the outside of the foundation and footers along the walkout portion of the house. After further investigating the mess removed from the shower, we noticed that although they did take the cheap route, a waterproof cover was used. We still have water damage behind the walls, but we don't foresee the company doing anything at this point.

10 foot ceilings are most definitely worth it!! I remember being pleasantly surprised about the cost. I think it was a couple thousand extra dollars, but soooooo much impact!! Not a budget buster in the whole scheme but one of the big decisions you can never change down the road. Do a search and you'll find lots of threads regarding Schumacher homes.
This is especially true for subfloor/decking as the walls are going up. I am not and cannot speak to your other issues but just wanted to clarify that for you. You should also be aware that their isn't a single home in the SE built on a standard crawlspace that DOESN'T have mold. I was a certified remediation professional and worked exclusively in the Carolinas. Without an encapsulated, conditioned space, Mold will begin forming in a matter of days on the joists below the insulation. Vapor barriers help but the vents allow common airborn mold to begin growing.

Analyzing permits over the last 4 years shows that Schumacher Homes of Nc mostly works on new construction projects. We generally recommend hiring a contractor with a score higher than 95. Get bids from the top-rated contractors in your area. Stay on top of the project, and be a kind person!!!! There are many things that aren't a big deal to fix if they are caught early.
There is a lot of turnover, some departments are a revolving door because the management is so bad but isn't held accountable. It affected my personal and family life because the negativity in the office wears on you over time. Although state law does not require contractors to carry general liability or workers' compensation insurance, hiring contractors who do have an active policy of each insurance is highly recommended.
